BARBARA HEPWORTH 2008/ 09
Looking ahead into the future we wish to develop a piece on the life and work of Wakefield’s very own BARBARA HEPWORTH. Because we think she was a genius!
Using light, sound and projections of her sculptures we would like to do a site specific piece that charts not only the key moments of her life but also finds physical form for the key innovations and insights of her artistic life. The piece aims to provide a narrative for audiences to gain an insight into not only modernist sculpture but also the characters that peopled the arts world during her life time whilst celebrating the district and landscape which so inspired her during her early years.
We hope to work on the piece with a film and video art company called Lumen, who have a wealth of experience in working in innovative ways with artists. We see the piece taking place within the landscape, that is, not necessarily within a theatre space.
